Ampallang

The ampallang is a glans piercing (through the "head" of the penis). The ampallang jewelry is a straight barbell, as a ring may cause strain during erection. The placement of the ampallang above, below or through the urethra is up to the individual (horizontal piercing). Healing time for this piercing is an alarming 6 - 12 months.

Apadaravya

Like the ampallang, the apadaravya is a glans piercing, but is vertical through the head of the penis (in relation to the urethra). An ancient piercing mentioned in the Kama Sutra, the apadarvya requires a barbell for jewelry and is meant to stimulate both partners. Healing time similar to ampallang.

Dydoe

Another glans piercing, the dydoe is placed on the rim of the glans. Therefore, the suitability of this piercing depends on the anatomy of the male, requiring enough "rim" to be pierced. The healing time for this piercing is approximately 4 - 6 months.

Foreskin Piercing

Clearly limited to those who were left intact, the foreskin piercing can accompany a variety of jewelries. The piercing is placed at the end of the forward foreskin, and moves along the shaft of the penis during sex. Estimated healing time: 2 - 4 months.

Frenum Piercing

The frenum piercing is placed on the underside of the penis anywhere from the end of the glans, to the base of the scrotum. This piercing is a simple skin piercing and can accommodate most jewelry options. Multiple piercings may be made on the underside of the penis to give a "ladder" effect. Quick healing time of 2 - 4 months adds to the popularity of this piercing.

Prince Albert

The most common of all penis piercings, the Prince Albert is made through the urethra and out through the underside of the penis. A captive ring or curved barbell is the most common jewelry used. The healing time for this piercing is quick because the owner's own urine serves as a cleaning agent. A reverse Prince Albert where the piercing emerges through the dorsal side of the penis is a variation. Healing time is about 2 - 4 months. In any case of genital piercing, the owner should abstain from sexual contact for several weeks. Once the piercing has begun to heal, sexual intercourse should include condoms until healing has completed. In all cases, piercings may migrate, tear or become infected. Research your piercing carefully before you make your appointment.
