Yoga is a great way to work on your spirituality and reach different sexual plateaus. Many sexual positions rely on the strength and flexibility of the participants. Yoga works on both your flexibility and strength, making it the perfect companion workout for sex.

If you are considering yoga, discuss with your doctor the suitability of the activity for you. Though yoga as known as a low impact exercise, certain positions can be challenging and taxing on the body. For best results, you may wish to take a class to ensure proper stability and placement before working on yoga at home. Listen to your body and never push yourself farther than you want to go.

Breathing and Meditation

The practice of relaxed breathing, and breathing control is helpful in sexual situations. The ability to control your breathing allows you to slow your breath and encourage longer sexual unions. Practice meditation every day to de-stress, keeping your core self open to new experiences. Breathing practice and meditation will help you in all aspects of your life.

Leg Strength

Standing positions build strength in the legs, and stretch the entire body. Many standing positions, such as standing mountain, can be performed anywhere. Leg strength is important in certain sexual positions, such as The Asian Cowgirl or Stand and Carry. Strong legs will allow you to explore sexual positions you had never thought possible.

Back Flexibility

Backbends lengthen your spine and release stress. Try poses such as Anjaneyasana (Crescent Moon Pose) or Supta Virasana (Reclining Hero Pose) if you are attempting such sexual positions as Bridge. Backbends are useful for forward bending sexual positions such as The Face Off. Keep your back flexible to avoid injury in new positions.

Inversions

Inversions are floor positions that invert the body. The Pile Driver and Reverse Pile Driver both include an inversion in them. Inversions have practical effects on the body such as increased blood flow and endocrine gland toning. Inversions also bring more blood to the brain, combatting fatigue. Practice inversions such as Plough Pose before attempting a pile driver position. It will help you get used to holding the position, and working on your breathing.

Yoga is a great way to keep in shape and tone your muscles. Keeping your body in shape and flexible is the key to having an adventurous sex life. Use yoga to expand your list of sexual positions and find new ways to make your sex life seem new again!
